John Bishop: Vegetarian Advert

John Bishop

Grinning into the camera as three chicks perch on his shoulder next to the caption "Chicks Love a Vegetarian!", a new advertising billboard (on Southwark Street, London) featuring John Bishop is proving to be popular with locals during National Vegetarian Week (21st - 27th May).

The A League Of Their Own regular panellist apparently credits his non-meat diet with keeping his top physical condition. The comedian ran more than 295 miles from Paris to London for Sport Relief in five days earlier this year.

The Liverpudlian comedian gave up meat in 1985 after seeing a cow being slaughtered. He said in an interview last year: "The cow was hanging up looking at me as if to say, 'You did this'".

PETA spokesperson Yvonne Taylor says: "John knows that meat and other animal products can slow you down and make you sick, and that's no joking matter. His vegetarian diet has also made him irresistible to women who are attracted to men with big... hearts!"

Bishop isn't the only comedian who is a vegetarian. Russell Brand has avoided eating animals since the age of 14, and last year opted to go one step further and become a vegan. PETA named Brand the sexiest vegetarian of 2011. Looks like he might have a rival for that title this year in John Bishop if Taylor's comments are anything to go by.

Of course, not everyone is a fan of the vegetarian way of life, as this sketch from That Mitchell & Webb Look demonstrates:
