Jimmy Carr's Fackham Hall
It's rare that a narrative British comedy film is made by a famous stand-up comedian, but Jimmy Carr is current doing just that: he has written and is currently overseeing production on a new movie.
Fackham Hall (say it out loud to get the first laugh) is said to be a spoof of Downton Abbey and other period dramas in that vein. It focuses on a pick-pocked who lands a job at the eponymous manor house and begins a forbidden romance with the lady-of-the-house.
Gag-heavy movies were once a staple of British comedy's offerings to the cinema but have since declined. Think the Carry On movies with a hearty dose of Monty Python. These kinds of movies could be said to be akin to the twists and turns you may find playing slots UK. Joke after joke and slaptastic pun after another, often like the high volatility you get from certain casino games.
Carr and his producers have signed up a fantastic cast to bring his vision to life. Damian Lewis has been seen on set, alongside Tom Felton, the actor who is most well-known as Draco Malfoy from the Harry Potter universe. Emma Laird, Ben Radcliffe and Hero Fiennes Tiffin are a few others on the cast list.
Carr himself will appear too, in a supporting role. It's not his first acting role - he has previously appeared in Confetti and Alien Autopsy - but it is a rare acting credit for him.
The script for Fackham Hall has been written by Jimmy alongside Patrick Carr and The Dawson Brothers. It will be directed by Jim O'Hanlon, who has previously overseen comedies such as Trying and Catastrophe. Notably O'Hanlon worked on another very gag-packed project: Charlie Brooker's detective-based series A Touch Of Cloth.
Filming has already started on the new movie in the north west of England, particularly in the Wirral area of Merseyside. Filming units have been seen outside Thornton Hall and St. Georges Church. With the movie believed to be set in 1931, the areas were made to look like that period, with actors and extras in outfits befitting of the era.
We'll all get to see the end result in 2025, when it hit cinemas.
