Comedians who have visited the Grand National

Jason Manford

It's nearly time for the Grand National again - the famous horse race will run in Aintree this Saturday (13th April 2024).

The Grand National is one of the most popular horse racing events in the world, full of excitement, tension, and a buzzing, energetic atmosphere.

While most people will be going to the races to bet on the top three positions, we've been spending our time instead thinking about devising a list of three top comedians who have attended the event in the past.

While this has been pretty hard to do - the Grand National is one of the biggest horse racing events in the world, with over 100,000 visitors every year - we think we've narrowed it down to a good trio here. So here they are.

Jason Manford

Let's start with Jason Manford, the instantly lovable comedian, presenter, and actor. Born in 1981, Manford has made his career in making people laugh, with hit shows including 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Comedy Rocks and Show Me The Funny.

Back in 2018, Manford was among the many celebs who flocked to the Grand National, watching the action on the second day of the competition.

In recent times, he has become the favourite comedian of many ITV viewers, having appeared as a judge on the popular singing show Starstruck and a presenter during The Big Night Of Musicals.

Jack Whitehall

Jack Whitehall has found international fame through his hit Netflix series Jack Whitehall Travels With His Father, as well as a role in Hollywood romcom Mother's Day - alongside Jennifer Aniston and Julia Roberts, no less.

Being quite a well-to-do lad, Whitehall has been spotted taking selfies at the Grand National in previous years, and it's been nice to see him making time for his fans. He's said in the past that he "loves the spectacle" and the "social aspect" of the sport, so we think it's pretty likely that he'll be making another appearance one day at the track.

Peter Kay

Being a writer, producer, director, actor, and comedian all in one, Peter Kay has long been considered a national treasure.

The 'king of comedy' made a big appearance at a past Grand National. In 2010, he was seen celebrating the win of Don't Push It, but sadly, he hasn't been seen at the event since. Now he's back out-and-about with his arena tours, could 2024 be the year to change that?

We're not counting our chickens - or horses, for that matter - but with the Grand National drawing in numerous celebrities every year, we wouldn't bet against it.
