Hi folks, I am a 45 year old Civil Servant but I have always been interested in comedy writing. I was on the BBC's writer's list for a
number of years and would be notified of any new shows in the pipeline. I finally got one of my sketches televised in 1999 on BBC Scotland on a show called Haywire. I had previously sent sketch ideas to Smith & Jones and Fry and Laurie, but with no success.I did, however, receive a very nice letter from Stephen Fry saying that they enjoyed reading my sketches but only used their own material. He said I should stick with the writing and wished me every success for the future. I still have the letter and always see Mr Fry as an inspiration. I just really enjoy writing comedy and would love to have some success again in the future.
