I'm a minister and stand-up comedian and my speciality is taking the mickey out of religion, political correctness and over-seriousness. I'm also a middle-aged woman in a world of youngsters. I started gigging this year and I've had regular bookings in the Midlands and in Devon (where I've just moved) since setting out and I was one of two openers for Hal Cruttenden's Edinburgh preview in Brum.

Sometimes people say things like 'You're too new ... you have to pay your dues.' After a long career in the media, widowhood, divorce, emigration (to and back) and the discipline to write 17 published books with or without a deadline, I say 'Dues? Don't give me that crap. I want to perform.'
