A conjurer of comic scenarios I have worked on sitcom ideas (accurately: ideas for the one sitcom) since that metaphorical "pie-in-face" (it was a friends face) moment that takes young men from thinking about filling five days a week in nice office, behind nice desks, to the hubrisitic coo that "ooh, you know a sitcom should be made about my life."
A master of the amorphous, not the defined, individual vignettes took sway over fleshy plot. This was the pattern: fertile atolls, without the unpirated sea lanes to link and give context.
Then I came across 'The Sitcommission'. With a deadline and clear submission instructions, I was suddenly able to come up with a specific idea and characters and Bam! I entered an entry for the 2012 comp.
My entry for the Sitcom Mission 2012 is the first time I've ever written comedy to deadline or submitted something. It feels good too...
Oh, and I'm not from your island - I'm an Aussie.
