Kevin Loughnane

My name is Kevin Loughnane and my recent novel 'The Chosen One' was shortlisted for the Luke Bitmead Writers Bursary, along with nine other authors, in October 2009.

The judging panel said the following about my novel:

'The judges thought the plot was very imaginative and the writing style flowed well. We were impressed by Kevin's dedication to writing and thought the book would appeal to a wide audience.'

Since I was kid I have enjoyed making up stories and making people laugh. The exhilaration I get from writing is a truly wonderful sensation and one that I hope to continue to experience throughout my lifetime.

My goal has always been for my ideas and my imagination to find a home.

I have written two screenplays with a few more ideas brewing and I am currently working on a sitcom idea.

Some of my poetry has been published, the most recent of these being in an anthology entitled The Best Poems of the Year - published by Turner Maxwell Books in 2010.

As well as being shortlisted for the above award I have also had some poetry published in the following books:
