Janey Godley - a true comedy one-off

Here's a trade secret. When I write an obituary of a comedian I usually do some searches on social media to see what friends and colleagues have said about them. It gives readers a flavour of what people thought of them, but it is also a good way of filling out the word count on a story when you don't have much information about the cause of death. With Janey Godley, there was a flood of tributes after her death at 63 was announced and I've woken up this morning to see that they are still pouring it.

Inbetweeners fans cringe as they discover show's unaired pilot with very different name

Although noughties hit sitcom The Inbetweeners is famed for its awkward comedy, creators of the show deemed the unaired pilot too cringe-incuding to ever see the light of day. But, thanks to the detectives of Reddit, a minute long snippet of the first ever episode - Baggy Trousers - has been leaked and fans can be grateful the show experienced a revamp before it aired.

Frank Skinner

Frank Skinner review

I hate reading reviews that relate plots of ruin gags, but I will never ever be able to smother a laugh when I hear the name Rinaldo and the words bacon fat and George Foreman Grill ever again.

Steve Coogan

Steve Coogan's West End gamble - can he rival Peter Sellers?

Taking on Captain Mandrake and co in Dr Strangelove was always going to be a risk. There's no doubting the energy. Yet the uneven new lines and old favourites alike play too much in the same heightened register.
