Steve Coogan works hard - but this is cheap and silly.

Dr Strangelove review

Armando Iannucci's Steve Coogan-starring stage adaptation of Stanley Kubrick's Cold War satire is funny but frothy.

Dr Strangelove review

As director, Foley also lets the actors spend too much time seated at the back of the stage behind a table, sometimes making sight lines difficult, but the cast is clearly having a great time, and for the most part, thanks to Bechtler's vision and Coogan's performance, the audience is too.

Dr Strangelove review

Ultimately, this production gains in power and confidence as it goes, the broader farce of the stage giving way to a conclusion even more confronting of its audience than the film to which it is indebted.

Dr Strangelove review

The bullseye topicalities for today are part of the dark pleasure of this glorious production.

Part broad farce, part skewering satire, a little bit of 'Allo 'Allo, some Airplane, some Partridge.

Dr Strangelove review

OK, so it's not the biting The Thick Of It-styled political satire we wanted but as far as light entertainment goes, it's pretty good.

Dr Strangelove review

The play is not one for the whole family but does highlight that it is sometimes better to embrace a tragic situation through laughter rather than horror.

Taskmaster: The Live Experience review

My main gripe would be the tasks are designed to be quantitative, and not qualitative. When judgement comes into proceedings it can allow for a lot more humour, something fans have grown to love about the series.
