Lost Voice Guy T-shirt among comedy exhibits

A T-shirt worn by Lost Voice Guy comedian Lee Ridley when he won Britain's Got Talent is one of the artefacts in an exhibition celebrating North East comedy. Other exhibits will include posters from 40 years of shows, a DVD of 102 Dalmatians signed by actor Ben Compton and a life-size statue of Viz character Johnny Fartpants.

A portrait of Marty Feldman is being unveiled today - on what would have been his 90th birthday - in one of his regular haunts. The canvas is to take pride of place in the Uxbridge Arms pub in Notting Hill, West London, where he used to regularly lunch in his early writing career.

BBC comedy chefs have said they want to make more laugh-out-loud comedies and fewer semi-autobiographical comedy-dramas. And watching Spent you can understand why, as it falls into that familiar gap of being neither consistently funny enough nor emotionally compelling enough to fulfil either side of the equation.
