Cancelled: Armando Iannucci's stage satire on Covid and Boris Johnson axed over election date

A Scottish theatre has apologised to its customers after plans to host a stage satire lampooning Boris Johnson, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak were scuppered by the timing of the General Election. The plug has been pulled on Pandemonium, a "caustic" new play by award-winning Scottish writer Armando Iannucci, just weeks after the Royal Lyceum in Edinburgh unveiled it as the curtain-raiser for its new season.

My Family: The Memoir by David Baddiel review

This book-length version of the revelations that informed the comedian's hit show - 'a twisted love letter' to his parents - possesses an unhinged poignancy.

Bridget Jones author Helen Fielding reflects on the character's kindness - and critics

"I assumed that no one would read it because it was too trivial," Fielding says of the column that became Bridget Jones's Diary.

Kinds Of Kindness review

Shot through with kinky sex, grisly tests of character and glib punchlines.

Alistair Harkness, The Scotsman, 25th June 2024

Kinds Of Kindness review

Kinds Of Kindness will be divisive, it's a nearly three hour long film with a perhaps too blatant theme that's sometimes too self-consciously edgy, but is also full of brilliant performances and manages to wring some moments of greatness out of its premise. There's no knowing where you'll land unless you see it, I've seen it and land fairly firmly in the middle.
