Funny at the Fringe - interview - Morgan Rees: Bi and Large

My show is mainly just an hour of gags and short stories. All told through the vehicle of a coming out story, which touches on growing up with a feeling of others, and lack of role models. An the journey of raising your awareness once you come out.

Luca Cupani

Funny at the Fringe - interview - Luca Cupani: Happy Orphan

My show was inspired by an email that I received last year, during the pandemic, from the cemetery of my Italian hometown: they explained me that, since my mum had been buried 10 years ago, the rental of the grave was now expired and they would dig her out... Apparently it is standard procedure in most Italian cemeteries and, if you cannot afford a private storage in a wall, the remains end up in a mass grave. I had to think about this and in doing so I also started thinking about my relationship with her and the fact that, since she died, my life somehow improved. I'm a happy orphan!

Fears over Edinburgh Fringe's future amidst lower ticket sales

Slow ticket sales for the Edinburgh Fringe mean the festival's recovery could be at risk as promoters warn that its future is on a "knife edge". The festival will take place from August 5 to 29.

However, the late publication of the official programme as well as the marketing of the event coupled with rising accommodation costs and changing consumer habits from Covid are all thought to be hampering ticket sales, which is down about 30% at some venues.

You look stupid if you perform for Comedy Unleashed

I know some comedians have the philosophy that "a gig's a gig!", but I hate to break it to you - not every "gig" is actually a "gig". Sometimes, a "gig" is a manufactured piece of propaganda, started by a few truly hateful and dejected young men who get a kick out of saying cruel things on stage, not for the purposes of comedy, but for a specifically curated audience of similarity hateful and dejected losers. And being associated with it, at the very least, isn't a great look for you.
