Desmond's actor Mona Hammond dies aged 91

One of her best-known roles was as Auntie Susu in the Channel 4 sitcom Desmond's from 1990 to 1994. She repeated the role in the shorter-lived spin-off Porkpie from 1995 to 1996.

The show boasts a stellar lineup of Frankie Boyle, 2014 Funny Women Awards winner Jayde Adams, Sikisa, and Angela Barnes, with even more acts to be announced. Best in Class founder and 2019 Funny Women Awards finalist Sian Davies will host the 90-minute extravaganza at Gilded Balloon Patter Hoose in the Big Yin on the 17th August.

Mark Steel reveals the next series of In Town...

Series 12 includes a stop in Paris - where he performs two versions of the show, one in English and one in French. The other locations are Nottingham, the Isles of Scilly, Tring, Salisbury and Newport in South Wales.
