Newly restored in ultra high definition, classic late-80s Christmas adventure Santa Claus The Movie is back in cinemas and on 4K Blu-ray, HD Blu-ray, and DVD this winter.
Starring UK and US comedy legends Dudley Moore and John Lithgow (3rd Rock From The Sun), it follows aspiring elf Patch's attempts to be be noticed by Father Christmas himself, and fighting to save the season from the clutches of avaricious American toy-maker B.Z.
Filmed at Pinewood Studios and released in 1985, it also depicts the origins of Santa and his gift-giving, co-starring future Keeping Up Appearances actress Judy Cornwell as his wife, Anya.
The film's owner, and distributor of the new restoration, STUDIOCANAL says: "This is the story of how a common woodcutter becomes the legendary Father Christmas. With a fantastical toy workshop run by elves and a herd of flying reindeer, Santa Claus has vowed to ensure that all good children are rewarded at Christmas. But the holiday season soon comes under threat when a rebellious but naïve elf called Patch runs away to modern day New York.
"Lost in a world he doesn’t understand, Patch finds himself being exploited by a villainous toy manufacturer. Could this be the end of Christmas or will its spirit prevail?"
The whimsical, heart-warming family fantasy starring a true superstar of British comedy is available to order now ahead of its home entertainment release on 13th November.
