Sky orders second series of A League Of Their Own
Sky 1 today announced that its hit sports-based comedy panel show A League Of Their Own will return for a second series.
The comedy show is hosted by James Corden and sees two teams of comedians, celebrity sports fans and sports stars compete against each other for sporting honours. One of the rounds is Human Clock, in which team members must answer quick-fire questions for as long as the third teammate can sustain a physical challenge.
Returning as one of the team captains will be former England footballer and Sky Sports presenter Jamie Redknapp, with regular panellists John Bishop and Sky Sports News presenter Georgie Thompson also confirmed for the new series. However, there is no mention yet whether the other team captain, Andrew Flintoff, will return too.
Sky says: "The second series of A League Of Their Own is set to be even bigger and better than before, with increased panellist and audience participation, and a host of exciting guest names. The teams will continue to battle it out in three riotous rounds of sporting challenges, testing their sporting knowledge, physical skills and competitive edges."
The new series is set to air in a later post-watershed timeslot as part of a new comedy line-up this autumn, allowing for more adult themes to be discussed this time.
James Corden says: "I'm really excited to be back in the saddle for another series of A League Of Their Own. I've got plenty more random sports facts up my sleeves, and am looking forward to putting the teams through their paces again."
Duncan Gray, Head of Entertainment at Sky, added: "From the moment it aired, A League Of Their Own was an instant hit with our viewers and we can't wait to have all new episodes to play this Autumn. A League Of Their Own first teamers James Corden, Jamie Redknapp, John Bishop and Georgie Thompson will be joined by big new signings from the world of comedy, celebrity and sport as they set out to sweep all before them in the new season."
