Andrew Maxwell to present global radio stand-up show
Andrew Maxwell is to front an ambitious new radio comedy pilot.
Welcome To Wherever You Are will involve comedians from around the world performing their sets to a British audience via a high-quality phone line.
The pilot will be recorded in front of a live audience, however the comedians will remain at home.
The producers explains: "While Andrew will be introducing four exceptional comics, he will be alone on stage - the guests will be in their home countries, connected to the BBC Radio Theatre by a high-quality ISDN line and a webcam."
Producers add: "Look forward to hearing jokes from Beirut, Brazil and beyond as Welcome To Wherever You Are invites Nation to tell gags unto Nation."
The pilot episode is set to be recorded on Wednesday 4th June in London. To apply to be in the audience see our free tickets page
Andrew Maxwell's last audio show was Radio 4's Andrew Maxwell's Public Enemies. Recorded last year, he focused on the bugbears of the food industry, the internet, the drugs trade and nationalists.
If the new pilot works, it will be offered to BBC Radio 4. The BBC is currently recording a series of Britain Versus The World. A new panel show format hosted by Ed Byrne, it sees a team of British comedians take on a team of comedians from around the world.
