The entry form for the 2013 Amused Moose Laugh Off stand-up competition is now available.

The respected nationwide contest, which aims to discover the next big comedy star, will be taking place in London, Edinburgh, and Leeds from early next year. Entries open on 1st January 2013.

Producers say: "In association with leading UK DVD company 2 Entertain, this exciting countrywide talent search for comedy's brand new comic gems is famed for discovering the comedy stars of the future. Previous Amused Moose Laugh Off winners include Jack Whitehall and more recently Rob Beckett, just back from I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out Here Now!."

Other finalists in the previous nine years the competition has run include Greg Davies, Rhod Gilbert, Jimmy Carr, Andi Osho and Simon Amstell.

The audience votes at every stage, whilst the overall winner is ultimately decided by comedy industry professionals at the final held at the Edinburgh Festival during August. The prize this year is £1,500 for the winner, and all the finalists will be considered for a DVD option by 2entertain.

The Amused Moose producers say: "Amused Moose Laugh Off has proved to be a fantastic shop window for new talent, with finalists being quickly signed by leading agents and promoters, as well as having the opportunity to be showcased in Amused Moose Comedy Gangshows in Edinburgh and in London's Soho Theatre. So if you want to set your stand-up career off to a flying start, showcase your talents to the comedy industry, take your first steps towards your own DVD and have a shot at the main prize of £1500 to invest in the development of your comedy career, what are you waiting for?"

The heats are as follows:

London: the heats (set length: 5 minutes) will be near Great Portland Street on 24th February, 25th February, 3rd March, 4th March, 10th March and 11th March 2013, followed by quarter-finals (10 minute sets) at the Hen & Chickens on 31st March and 7th April 2013.

Leeds: the qualifying round, heats and quarter-final are compressed into one afternoon and evening on the 24th March 2013, with winners progressing to the semi-finals at AmusedMoose Soho in London in May, and the Final during the Edinburgh Fringe in August.

Edinburgh: the qualifying round, heats and quarter-final are compressed into one afternoon and evening on the 17th March 2013, with winners progressing to semi-finals at AmusedMoose Soho in London in May, and the Final during the Fringe in August.

The Semi-finals are on Saturdays 4th, 11th and 18th May 2013 at AmusedMooseSoho, London.
