Liverpudlian comedian John Bishop fronts this comedy show. The rising star presents viewers with a mix of stand-up, sketches and real-life stories from members of the Great British public.

Each episode is focused on a broad theme (for example, growing up); Bishop mixes stand-up on that topic with sketches illustrating his train of thought and experiences, and introduces clips of members of the public - and a couple of celebrities - telling their own stories.

The comic's domestic observations, his family life, his passions and his problems are all under the spotlight in this jam-packed, laugh-a-minute show.

The BBC says: "The combination of John Bishop's ability to keep the laughs coming with his unique brand of observational humour, his undeniable charm and gift of creating a relaxed atmosphere are unrivalled and the feel-good factor of spending an evening in his company is absolutely priceless."

John Bishop said: "It's a great honour that the BBC has put faith in me for this pilot and it's an opportunity that I am extremely excited about. There is a rumour that having a Scouser on BBC One on a Saturday night means they get a grant but I am sure that's not the reason they are doing the show ... is it?"

Karl Warner, commissioning executive at the BBC, said: "John is one of the most exciting stand-ups in the country and we're thrilled to be working with him on his first solo project, helping to ensure that BBC One continues to deliver the very best comedy entertainment to its audiences."
