Set on Discworld, a magical world which is flat, resting on the backs of four elephants standing on the shell of a giant turtle, Eric is the ninth book in the comic fantasy series and a pardoy of the story of Faust.
Rincewind (Mark Heap), the Disc's most cowardly and incompetent wizard, and his fearsome Luggage, are trapped in the Hellish "Dungeon Dimensions". But then they suddenly find themselves summoned by a demonologist who wants three things: to rule the world, to meet the most beautiful women in history, and to live forever.
Sadly, Rincewind is unable to provide any of these, and annoyingly for Rincewind it turns out that this fearsome demonologist, Eric Thursley, is a 13-year-old kid with a talking parrot. However, because of the way Rincewind was summoned, Rincewind ends up being able to give Eric his wishes - not that they end up being as great as Eric hoped.
